The Ellen G. White Writings Comprehensive Research Edition 2008 represents a culmination of four years' work. It expands the Ellen G. White Writings Complete Published Edition 2007 CD to include two extensive collections of historical and Adventist pioneer material. The first, Words of the Adventist Pioneers, represents the single largest collection of material ever added to an Ellen G. White Writings CD. In fact, it includes over 100,000 pages of new material compared to 75,000 pages of text in the Ellen G. White Writings Complete Published Edition. This collection contains an extensive group of Adventist pioneer authors from the 19th Century, including most of the early Adventist periodicals of that era. The Words of the Adventist Pioneers also provides some important Bible and church history material from recent 20th Century Adventist authors. The second collection contains several important historical works from authors Ellen White referenced when writing The Great Controversy and other works that touch on Christian history. The best known of these historical works are D'Aubigne's five-volume set, History of the Reformation of the Sixteenth Century and Wylie's three-volume set, History of Protestantism.

Legacy of Light 2008, is a a multi-media CD-ROM. This disc is an update for Legacy of Light 2.0. There is a major improvement in the updated Reel to Real video section, enhancing the size, picture quality, and length of each video. The eight segments now total 75 minutes of video instead of only 15 minutes in version 2. Also, a new virtual reality tour of Ellen White's Elmshaven retirement home was added to the Tour section. This CD does not contain any writings of Ellen White. Instead the CD has many multimedia elements on the history of the Adventist pioneers and the White family. There are interactive virtual tours of the White Estate including the White Estate Vault, and of Ellen White's "Elmshaven" retirement home. Interactive "Christ of the Narrow Way" mural, an interactive historical timeline of the Adventist church, pioneer songs, video clips, children's activities, and much more.

Some Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 2000 users may not be able to execute installation of the following Ellen G. White Writings v.3.0 products: Standard Library Edition, The Complete Published Edition, Legacy of Light Standard Edition, or Legacy of Light Research Edition. If you need help on solving this issue, Click here to download.

Some users may experience slow or abortive startup of their Folio EGW writings v.3.0 program. If you are using Windows ME or XP, and your CD has a copyright date of ©1998 or 1999, go to the following link for help on fixing this 'bug'. Click here to download.

The Ellen G. White Estate now has a MS Vista HLV install patch that allows owners of our Ellen G. White Writings Basic Family Edition 2005 and Complete Published Edition 2005 CD-ROMs to install them on Microsoft's Windows Vista Operating System.Please carefully read the instructions below on how to do this:

• First, download the HLV Compatibility utility: HLV Vista Patch (5MB)
• Second, temporarily disable all anti-virus, spyware and internet security software, such as AVG's, McAfee's, Norton's, Panda's, Trend Micro's or Zone Alarm's various security suites. These can block the HLV Compatibility utility from running. Note: We advise that you first disconnect your computer from the internet before doing this.
• Third, open HLV_Vista.zip, then open the HLVista Fix folder. Next, start the utility setup file in Administrator Mode (right click the setup.exe and click "Run as administrator").  Next, 'double click' on the Setup file and it will install the "HLV" Vista Compatibility Utility. The installation program will set up a Desktop Icon for the HLV Utility on your computer's desktop. 
• Last, to install the EGW Family/Complete 2005 copy-protected discs, first run the HLV Compatibility program from its desktop icon, and in the open window click the "Enable Vista Compatibility" button. You can now insert the EGW 2005 CD and install the software as normal.  Upon rebooting your computer, the HLV Compatibility utility will no longer be running. So if you ever need to re-install your EGW 2005 software onto MS Vista, you will need to re-run this utility

The Ellen G. White Writings Complete Published Edition 2007 requires that you have pre-installed on your computer Microsoft's Visual C++ Service Patch 1. Some older computers may not have this service patch installed. This will trigger the following error message when running the software:

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the product may fix this problem."

You do not need to reinstall your EGW software. Just download and install the Visual C++ SP1. Your EGW Complete 2007 software will then run Folio Views normally.

Do not install the patch if your EGW Complete 2007 program starts normally after you have installed the software.

The Ellen G. White Writings Comprehensive Research Edition (Mac) will require a font patch to be run after you have installed Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac OS X. Microsoft in their wisdom moves Ariel and Times New Roman True Type Fonts into a disabeled Fonts folder and replaces them for newer versions using a different name variation rendering our software inoperable. So install the EGW CRE Font Patch to fix this issue as these fonts are required by the EGW CRE OS X software to operate correctly. Otherwise all you'll see inplace of characters are square boxes when you run our EGW CRE app!

If you are installing our EGW CRE software on OS X 10.4 (Tiger), please visit an end users Mac and White web site for support. They have worked with the White Estate and have agreed to create patches for Tiger users to install our EGW CRE app. The White Estate does not support Tiger OS 10.4, but you can with Mac and White Web site assistance get it to operate just fine.

EGW CRE Combo Patch (beta) Download Patch

Mac OS X Support: This patch is only for Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.x) and Lion (Mac OS X 10.7.x).

Fonts Patch (Issue #5 fix): Also known as The Font Issue, this replaces the symlink fonts in the app bundle and prefix with real fonts. This patch will prevent any further problems from outside applications moving the fonts again.

Enable Copy/Paste: Fix copy/paste so it works reliably until such time as the XQuartz.MacosForge.org development team fix a bug which prevents such from working in a Wine application which EGW CRE is based on.

Mac Shortcuts: Installs Mac-like keyboard shortcuts.

Set XQuartz Preferences: Sets you preferences so that the CRE CD copy/paste will work.

When you update your Mac to Apple's latest operating system OS X 10.9 Mavericks, the XQuartz X11 server is broken and needs to be updated. MacOSForge released on October 29, 2013 a new beta XQuartz-2.7.5_rc3.dmg. Restart your computer and then download and install the new XQuartz beta. When you run the Ellen G. White Writings Comprehensive Research Edition Mac OS X program after the install it should work again. We will post any future updates as they become available.

You have two options:

Purchase the new EGW CRE Mac OS X version that has been built to work without issues on El Capitan OS X 10.11. The cost is US $15. You will be emailed a link to download the DMG installer.

or

When you update your Mac to Apple's latest operating system OS X 10.11 your EGW CRE program will hang and not run. To get EGW CRE to work under El Capitan you will need to disable Apple's new SIP (System Integrity Protection) making your Mac "rootless". To do this, follow these directions:

1. Reboot your Mac into Recovery Mode by restarting your computer and holding down Command+R until the Apple logo appears on your screen.
2. Click Utilities then select Terminal from the menu. 
3. In the Terminal window type: csrutil disable then press Enter key. 
4. Type: reboot then press Enter key to restart your Mac.

Please download the ltms.nfo and copy to the C:\Estate\Research Ed\Folio\Books directory on your computer. You can then find this file and open it from within the Folio Views EGW Writings software.

This allows you to read and search Ellen White's Letters and Manuscripts from the years 1947-1915
